다른 나라도 마찬가지겠지만, 특히 브라질에서 누군가가 "Maybe"라고 말했다면, "No"로 받아들이는 것이 정신건강에 좋다.
In my opinion, everywhere in the world is more less the same, but specially in Brazil, if somebody said "Maybe", it's better to understand it as "No" for my mental health.
I have just arrived in Sao Paulo yesterday early in the
morning. A Bolivian man
Richard helped me to come here by his big big truck which can carries many
cars. We made almost 2000km nonstop. He drove so fast, it was like a roller
coaster ride for more than 20 hours. His truck had a problem, we found smoke
from the backside of his truck. It was on Sunday, for that we couldn't repair
it. I was concerned about
explosion or fire on it. Whenever he drove the wrong way in order to make
passing relatively slower other cars, I was so nervous. Falling asleep at the
wheel or a slight mistake could kill us without a trace, I was worried about
that as well. I tried not to sleep, because I didn't want to make him sleepy, I
was exhausted. Anyway Richard was an excellent driver, for him it's just a
routine-jobs. We arrived in Sao Paulo, safely. I don't know if Richard usually
expresses his love to his family or not, but he doesn't mind to drive more than
thousands of kilometers, it's very tough and hard. I think it is more than
words.
When I was flying from Senegal, Africa to Ushuaia,
Argentina, I transferred the flight in Sao Paulo. Every cars along the
streetlamps dotted looked so small like toys from the sky in Sao Paulo. But now
I feel like I'm the ant in the toy car in exactly the same place.
I met a very nice man in Senegal. His name is Aziz. He told me that people who didn't travel are the same as people who read just only one page in a book. He also said that there are two things travelers don't have. One is Home. The other is Family. He said, he wanted to give me home while I was staying in his house, and he wanted to be my family. I felt very guilty, because I imagined Africa is really poor. But he helped me, he didn't care who I am, where I am from. He just considered me as a traveler who need family and home. I was very touched at that time. He understood all the difficulties of travelers. To be honest, I don't want to judge anyone. But some people are fake. What they say and what they do are different. But he was authentic. I like this kind of person. And I'm not a hero, I'm not a beggar. I'm just me and a traveler.
When I was in Croatia, I met some Argentinian friends. They were studying there, and they were not very wealthy. In Croatia, if you have a student card, you can take the tram for free. When my friends didn't have student cards, they used to take the tram without tickets. But when I met them, they had student cards, so they didn't have to worry about controllers. But I didn't have a student card. My friend told me that, "Kim! Don't worry about anything. If I say RUN! We all run! OK?" I really liked them. They didn't have to run anymore. Because they had student cards. But they didn't want to leave me alone. They were happy and ready to run with me. They understood everything. Some people may not understand me and us. But I love them very much. They even gave me their photo. They told me it was my passport to Argentina. They said if I show their photo to their parents in Argentina, their parents will give me Asado(Barbecue). They didn't like meats in Croatia, because it's expensive and not very tasty. But they said Asado is very cheap and a very good meat. I can't wait to try Asado in Argentina! Asado is coming or I'm going to Asado!
I'm in Cape Verde now, waiting for the next flight tomorrow afternoon. I have got three troubles. 1. It was extremely expensive(100euro) to send my bike with me. I threw out many things in order to lose my weight. I really wanted to use my free baggage for my bike. But the guy never listened to me. It was not included for free baggage. 2. I'm staying in the airport in Cape Verde only for the transit. But I had to pay for visa. Visa for 1 month, Visa for 1 day cost the same.(25 euro for less than 24 hours) Very strange. The airport is so small, there is no place for the transit. 3. I lost my three bags. I was very surprised and confused. Where are they? Still in Dakar? Should I take them in Ushuaia separately? I realized that later my three bags were still in the airplane alone until all the people had gone with their baggage. I'm still very far from Ushuaia. I have to pray for my calm and relaxed journey. Sorry for complaining.

돈 한 푼 없이 세계일주 성공한 男, 비법은?
[서울신문 나우뉴스]세계일주 하려면 적금 통장 털어야 한다? NO!
그리고 최근에는 150일 간의 도전을 담은 책 'How to Travel the World for Free: I Did It, and You Can Do It, Too!'(국내판 '땡전 한푼 없이 떠난 세계여행')을 출간해 세계여행의 꿈을 실현할 수 있는 방법을 전했다. 비게의 여행기는 그의 웹사이트인 'howtotraveltheworldforfree.com'에서 확인할 수 있으며, 미국 공영방송 PBS에서는 그가 여행하며 직접 찍은 동영상을 6월까지 방송한다. 송혜민기자huimin0217@seoul.co.kr # Many Korean people wrote negative comments about themselves, not him as below.
1. He speaks English and Spanish. It's more difficult to get than money. 2. He is German and he is a man. If I ask a job as an Asian, they will turn me down and insult me. It's impossible for me.
It's true if you can speak as many languages as you can, it will help you.
But you can also find countries which don't use English and Spanish.
Look at me. My English is also terrible, and I don't speak Spanish.
You can't speak all the languages, it's impossible.
And if you are Asians, do you really think you can't find jobs on boats ?
I see many ad which is trying to find Asian workers.
And I met many Asian crews.
I don't understand why people try to focus on impossibility. You can improve you language ability while you are traveling. Oh, I'm Asian, No way, I'm Korean, Oh, I have no money, I'm too old, I'm human, I'm breathing, I have five fingers, it's not possible. So what?
Many foreigners consider Asians as Genius. They often make a joke about difficulty level Asians. What are problems as Asians ? Stupid people(Racists) are everywhere even in Asia. But it's their problem. I'm not very interested in being famous as this guy. And I have't read his story. Probably it might be great stories. I also have great stories as he has. I don't want to compare to anyone. He's been to 11 countries, I've been to more than 30 countries for 2 years. Apparently more than 100 people helped him on the road. More than 1000 people helped me on the road. But I'm still Asian, and Korean.
It's a pity that many Asian and Korean people don't know me. I want to say whatever you do, please, do not try to find impossibility, try to find possibility first.
I had tried to hitchhike a boat to South America from Spain(1 month), Dakar(1 month). Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything. I was exhausted and bit depressed. I wrote about my situation on the internet. It became a discussed posting quite much. Some people have encouraged me, and the others have judged me. I was bit upset with the judges in the beginning. Because I thought they got me wrong. But now I think they gave me chances to think twice about myself. Meanwhile, I have heard a good news. A traveling community in South Korea called One World Travel Maker(5bull.net) said that they can help me by donation to cross the Atlantic ocean. Many people who I don't know encouraged me, and sent me messages of hope in order to make me not to give up. I appreciate them, and I feel responsible for their helps. The quotation from the leader of this community was inspiring. "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. It will be brighter than before." I also want to light the world on the road by bike. I believe this support means "Do not complain, do not give up in every moment of frustration." I am planning to fly to the southernmost part of South America. Unfortunately, Dakar is not the perfect place to fly to South America. Now, I'm searching the cheapest way to fly to Punta Arenas, Chile or Buenos Aires, Argentina. Thank you very much.
